The
DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management is participating
in a Source Water Assessment with the Atlanta Regional
Commission (ARC). This assessment is required by
the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)
and is conducted under the guidance of the Georgia
Environmental Protection Department.
A
Source Water Assessment is a study and report that
provides basic information about the water body that
is used as drinking water in each water system.
The source water for DeKalb's drinking water supply
is the Chattahoochee River. This Source Water
Assessment
looks at potential sources of pollution
upstream from the water intake on the river and rates
the possibility for pollution to enter the river.
